The University of Suwon Project was a school-wide rebrand assignment. We were tasked with fortifying the existent school branding, by modernizing it & breathing in a younger appeal. Our goal was to rejuvenate the overall image of the University of Suwon, merging the traditional while embracing the youthful energy that incoming students carry with them towards their next level of higher education. The University of Suwon is set to begin its implementation of its new Identity (in its entirety) in the fall semester of 2020.

The University approached us with the notion that they do not want a drastic change, but a substancial & noticeable enough re-vamp of their current identity, The purpose being to target the current mood of prospective students in the millenial era–much less about traditional thinking, and more about innovative and progressive means of education.
This tied into our approach with the rebranding of theing university crest and emblem, going with a single-colored outline aesthetic that would be scalable for both digital & print use. The use of balanced strokes with the lines and the sans serif type create a cohesion between the overall elements. The use of brighter tones help scream “light” & “fresh”.
The USW pattern is based on the gold shield emblem. Its 6 “wings” represent the Hexagon and Shield Shapes, creating an unobtrusive pattern that can be easily implemented. For this example, a lamp post banner in reverse USW colors.
Upon submission of the project, a brief rebrand explanation/brand guideline was given to further explain our concepts and design logic to the University. Below is a few of the design-ccentric spreads that were contained in this booklet.
